What Is an Electric Surfboard?

An electric surfboard — also known as an e-surfboard or jet board — is a motorized board that propels you across the water using an electric motor, no waves needed. You control your speed with a handheld remote, lean to steer, and let the board do the rest. Think of it as the love child of surfing, wakeboarding, and the future.

The Rush Wave EasyRider is one of the most accessible and well-engineered electric surfboards on the market today, purpose-built for Canadian riders and conditions.

Performance That Thrills

Don't let the name fool you — the EasyRider is anything but slow. Powered by a 12 kW brushless electric motor, this board rockets up to 50 km/h (31 mph) with instant, smooth acceleration the moment you squeeze the trigger. There's no lag, no gear shifting, and no noise — just pure, immediate speed.

Water-cooling technology keeps the motor running at consistent power output even during longer sessions, so your performance doesn't drop off mid-ride. Whether you're carving tight turns or blasting across open water in a straight line, the EasyRider delivers a responsive, exciting ride every single time.

Built for Everyone — Seriously

One of the biggest barriers to water sports is the learning curve. The EasyRider tears that barrier down. A beginner-friendly design means you can be up and riding in your very first session, and the board's safety features give you the confidence to push your limits without fear.

Key beginner-friendly features include:

  • Dual independent kill switches — cut power instantly if things get out of hand
  • Speed-limiting mode via a magnetic key — perfect for younger riders or first-timers
  • Anti-slip deck cover — keeps your footing locked in at any speed
  • Protective propeller grid — eliminates contact risk with the motor
  • Stable main and caudal fins — engineered for confident control in Canadian waters
  • Compatible buoy tube accessory — increases floatation from 100 kg (220 lb) to 150 kg (330 lb) for extra stability while learning

And it's not just one way to ride. The EasyRider supports three completely different riding experiences:

  • Stand-up — classic surfboard style for speed and sport
  • Buoy tube — added stability and fast progression for beginners
  • SurfKart kit — seated, go-kart-style fun on the water for the whole family

One board, endless possibilities.

Battery & Power You Can Count On

The EasyRider runs on an SK Lithium-ion Cells A-Grade battery rated at 4,400 Wh — a serious power plant engineered for up to 800 charge cycles. Real-world riders report sessions well beyond the 30–40 minute baseline estimate, especially when sharing the board between multiple people or varying speed throughout the session.

The battery is built with multiple layers of protection, including:

  • Over-temperature protection
  • Over-current protection
  • Over-voltage protection
  • Over-discharge protection
  • Short-circuit protection
  • Impact protection

The battery is also fully removable, making charging, storage, and transport significantly easier. And because it's designed for Canadian conditions, the EasyRider operates in temperatures ranging from -10°C to 45°C — meaning your riding season just got longer.

Tech, Safety & Certifications

The EasyRider isn't just exciting — it's engineered to a standard you can trust. Every board is:

  • CE Certified
  • IP67 Waterproof — fully dustproof and safe for temporary immersion
  • Approved by Transport Canada

The ergonomic handheld remote gives you smooth, responsive acceleration control, and a front-facing display shows your real-time battery level so you're never caught off guard mid-ride. Operating noise sits at approximately 75 dB — quiet enough for lakes and shared waterways without disturbing the peace.
